Believing in a young earth instead of the huge amount of evidence in favor of an old earth is like covering up your ears, closing your eyes, and shouting, "I'm not listening! I'm not listening!"
There are entire fields of study which concern themselves with the age of things, and not only do all of them agree with an old earth, but they all disagree with a young earth.

| Boy, I remember being dragged to a Bible class by a particularly /evil/ ex-girlfriend. We were the only ones who attended, and one full day was spent explaining why the Earth was only a couple thousand years old. Feh.
